They typically work under the guidance of Lead Analysts and/or Head Analytics to deliver analysis in line with stakeholder requirements.

Job Description

AFC Modelling (AFCM) owns the global Money laundering prevention models which are used by the bank to detect potential money laundering activities. The Tuning & Optimization (T&O) function performs the verification and optimization of those Transaction Monitoring models aligned to the AFCM Target Operating Model. The Expert Analyst in the Tuning & Optimisation (T&O) area supports the review and optimisation of transaction monitoring models used for the detection of money laundering activities globally in the Bank.

Within the framework of the T&O processes defined by the AFCM Target Operating Model, your tasks will include identifying suitable data to perform model analyses, assessing the data quality of the data used in the model and using appropriate methods to define and implement segmentation models. You will also use statistical methods to determine parameters and thresholds and apply testing methods to optimise them. You evaluate your optimization and analysis results quantitatively and document them in detail. In cooperation with the local money laundering officers, you coordinate (interim) results and sometimes involve central AFC teams in the T&O processes. In addition, the Expert Analyst drives the further development and automation of the applied processes and conducts ad hoc analyses within the framework of T&O.

Your responsibilities:

Implementation, optimisation and improvement of existing transaction monitoring models according to the AFCM T&O processes (defined in the AFCM TM Target Operating Model).

Quantitative and qualitative model evaluation, monitoring of data quality, data points used by the models. Analytical grouping of the customer base into locally specific segments. Use of statistical analysis (e.g. frequency distribution) to determine model parameters. Use of testing procedures (e.g. ATL/BTL) to optimise model parameters. Evaluate and quantitatively analyse the impact of T&O measures on the models.

Ensure the quality, completeness and integrity of T&O activities and their full documentation.

Build and maintain partnership relationship with local and central AFC teams. Proactively engage with risk and audit partners to ensure continuous review and transparency of measures.

Further development & automation of AFCM T&O processes. Provide ad hoc analysis as part of the T&O. Support team head/lead.

Your Skills and Experiences:

Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, computer science, data science, information management or statistics, or comparable qualification

Excellent knowledge of common Microsoft Office programmes (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Experience in analytics and data mining with "Big Data" as well as statistical analysis (Python, Spark, SAS, SQL, Hadoop, Tableau, etc.), also experience in financial crime, compliance, risk or quality assurance in a financial services, banking or regulatory environment would be beneficial.

Knowledge of AML transaction monitoring systems, in particular Emerald / Mantas; desirable. Very strong analytical skills, attention to details and ability to work under pressure.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) English skills, German is a plus
