A snapshot of your day: Advise on IP-related issues and offer business-oriented IP solutions to help with business objectives, build and utilize IP assets, and protect Siemens Energy's enterprises.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Support our IP management in its responsibility for IP related matters;
  • Act as IP Business Partner for our Siemens Energy businesses including local Siemens Energy companies;
  • Implement IP strategies, IP evaluation and portfolio management in the area(s) of responsibility;
  • Work with R&D teams and inventors especially for patent applications to protect innovations and provide IP legal advice;
  • Ensure effective IP risk management and mitigation such as searching, patent clearing, freedom-to-operate analysis, validity opinion and other IP legal advice;
  • Cooperate with legal and other specialist departments;
  • Liaise with and supervise outside counsel (e.g., instruction, quality, costs and compliance control);
  • Conduct or facilitate in-house IP trainings and advise on IP governance policies;
  • Operate own activities with strong cost awareness;
  • Ensure open and good communication among all parties.


What you bring:
  • Bachelor degree or above with a technical background (e.g. engineering, physics, energy related science, informatics/ computer science etc.);
  • European Qualifying Examination (EQE) passed successfully and registered as European patent attorney before the European Patent Office (EPO);
  • A minimum 3 years of professional experience where you have held different prosecution and litigation positions in an IP law firm or legal department of a multinational company;
  • Expertise in European - ideally also in German - IP law and international IP law, development and implementation of IP strategies, IP licensing/transactions, prosecution and litigation, legal opinions, FTO analysis, patents, trademarks, software copyrights and quality management;
  • High level of integrity with character consistent with Siemens Energy values;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills supporting the ability to explain complex technical and legal matters and to effectively solve complex issues;
  • High level of proficiency in verbal and written English ability to work collaboratively within the Siemens Energy global team (German and other language skills are advantageous);
  • Business-minded team player with a hands-on mentality and collegial personality who is result-oriented, self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
