Health & Safety Manager We are offering an excellent opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join the Dundas Chemical Company. Your primary role would be to provide professional support to department management and to lead on various health and safety work streams and projects, supporting our rendering, engineering, transport, plant hire and waste management facilities. About you You will have previous experience working in a similar position within manufacturing or waste management industries, and have a track record of being successful, pro-active, and driven. What you'll do Independent assurance visits with an emphasis on risk management Supporting and directing incident Investigations to reach a timely conclusion Provide data capture in support of health and safety improvement programmes Key Responsibilities Provide support and guidance to all department managers. To coordinate the risk assessment process, and assist in the review and production of risk assessments You will contribute to the incident reporting process, undertake investigations, and provide support to Managers Promote a positive health & Safety culture Carry out short training sessions on key topics. Undertake health and safety inspections Identify through analysis, gaps with all relevant legislation, and industry best practice Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that procedures are followed Contribute to the development of emergency planning, including spills prevention Contribute to the implementation, measuring and monitoring of the health and safety strategy Desired Skills and Experience Have Experience in actively implementing health and safety Experience in carrying out training on H&S topics in the form of toolbox talks Hold a recognised health and safety qualification such NEBOSH General Certificate Be a Member of IOSH (and working towards CMIOSH) You will have proven organisational and team-working skills Candidate Requirements - Person characteristics Confidential in all matters Professional approach, coupled with strong interpersonal skills Excellent planning and organisational skills Ability to work co-operatively with others to implement process improvements Be confident in your ability to work with all levels across the business Diligent with an analytical mind Capable of acquiring and applying technical and regulatory information Good understanding and approach to risk management A can do attitude with a positive, patient, and assertive nature Business focused and common-sense approach to the application of health and safety What Can We Offer You? This role is permanent and can be based at either one of our two sites at Newarthill, Motherwell or Dumfries. From time to time you will be required to travel between the sites, so some flexibility is required. Due to the nature of this role a full UK Driving Licence is therefore essential. The hours of work are also negotiable for the right candidate.
